Those who live in the 'free' world usually have a fixed idea that the only correct form of government is one that emerges from 'free' elections, where their representatives are 'democratically' and thus fairly elected. On the other hand, state systems where one 'dictator' rules are considered the worst possible, which they directly fear… However, let's try to think about the essence and effectiveness of both systems without any prejudice.

In the case of democracy, everyone can express their opinion, and if they find enough supporters, they can also implement it to a certain extent and act accordingly. But then there is someone else who expresses a different opinion, also finds supporters, and pushes their ideological current, according to which their group wants to manage things. The result is either a conflict of these opinion groups, which we often observe in the media, or in the case of 'reasonable' proponents of opinions, some kind of compromise, with which, however, in most cases, no one is completely satisfied - and so almost everyone within some kind of peace in the democratic world suffers to some extent, which is not entirely pleasant - but it is survivable :-) A bigger problem, however, arises when it is necessary to decide something really crucial, where it can either go left or right, when it simply cannot go through the middle. In these cases, democratic societies usually stall for a long time, sometimes someone manages to steer in one direction for a while, but it often doesn't last long, they can't keep the helm, and then it quickly starts to turn back to the center or often also to the opposite side. Ultimately, such a society travels down the river of time in a series of more or less sharp turns, usually without the chance to reach the shore and achieve something big.

And how might things proceed if the reins of the entire society were firmly held by a sufficiently strong dictator? Such a leader simply sets a direction and a goal, dedicates all available resources to achieving it, and cuts off any debate about whether something else should be done or done differently... sometimes even physically, which is unfortunately the dark side of dictatorship. However, a positive aspect can be that there is no need to tread water, and there is a chance to achieve truly great things—the price paid by the inhabitants of the subdued area then depends on the cruelty of the specific ruler. Without such rulers, there would be no pyramids, which even current generations look up to in admiration, and without the rivalry of the Western world with the dictatorships of the East, we might still only be dreaming about human spaceflight.

Even though we may not want to admit it, in democratic countries, we have (often to our benefit) many smaller or larger dictators capable of holding the reins tightly enough in their fields to set a firm direction and goal. If they are wise, they listen to others, but they make decisions themselves without being held up by endless discussions, then they have a chance to achieve sufficiently significant results in their field that can go down in history.

Fortunately for those living in democratic countries, most dictators ruling unchallenged in their territories are not wise enough to free themselves from their own pettiness, nor strong enough to permanently keep at bay others who aspire to replace them. Thanks to this, we manage to maintain some kind of 'due diligence', and it cannot be said that all the dictatorships in the world have completely outrun the stalling democratic world in achieving their goals.

With this, I do not wish to drive anyone into the clutches of dictators or denigrate the regime in which I live—I would, however, like to emphasize the fact that if we as humanity want to achieve anything great, we need sufficiently strong and uncompromising individuals who can correctly steer the helm and keep it on course until the task is completed. At the same time, however, we must hope that these strong individuals will be fair and of strong character, not misusing their abilities to commit evil...

Recent events unfortunately show that the powerful people of this world do not hesitate to sacrifice anything to achieve their goals. From the earlier arms races, we know that humanity already possesses technologies capable of destroying most life on this planet in a very short time. From the perspective of the universe, this would hardly be an event of any significance, and it is very likely that observers from planets orbiting other stars would not even notice it. For us, however, it would be the end. Therefore, contemporary dictators on this planet, intoxicated by their power and greatness, should take a moment to realize that whatever they do, in terms of the scale of the universe, their actions will still be insignificant, and if they destroy their audience on planet Earth, there will be no one left to worship them or write books about them. Therefore, they should strive to be remembered in history for other great deeds than the pursuit of dominating more territories on our small planet, especially when these power games cause suffering to millions of people who could have dedicated their energy and lives to much better causes. Besides war conflicts, however, recent years have also amazed us with advances in the field of artificial intelligence, which may soon surpass even the capabilities of the greatest dictators - this can be frightening, but it could also be a path to saving our civilization, we shall see :-)
